Introdução: A colocação de um cateter uretral duplo J durante o procedimento de transplantação renal reduz a taxa de complicações urológicas que podem ocorrer após o referido procedimento.

Objectivo: Procurou-se analisar a associação entre as complicações e a utilização ou não de cateter uretral duplo J em doentes transplantados renais no nosso hospital.

Material e Métodos: Estudo observacional, retrospetivo, analítico e transversal. Foram revistos os registos de doentes submetidos a transplante renal. Foram tidas em conta variáveis ​​​​demográficas, clínicas e cirúrgicas. Aplicou-se a estatística descritiva com medidas de tendência central e medida de dispersão, frequências relativas e frequências absolutas, para a análise inferencial em busca de associação aplicou-se o Qui-quadrado de Pearson, considerou-se significativo valor p≤ 0,05, utilizou-se o programa estatístico SPSS 24 .

Resultados: A idade média foi de 43,154 ± 11,97 DP. Foram incluídos 50 doentes, dos quais 26 eram do sexo masculino (52%) e 24 do sexo feminino (48%). O cateter duplo J foi utilizado em 23 doentes (43%), dos quais nenhum apresentava complicações urológicas, e dos 27 doentes (57%) que não tinham o referido cateter colocado, 6 deles apresentavam algum grau de complicação urológica. Foi aplicado o Qui-quadrado de Pearson e foram encontradas diferenças significativas com um valor de p = 0,016.

Conclusão: Estes dados indicam uma possível associação entre a apresentação de complicações e a utilização ou não de um cateter duplo J entre os doentes submetidos a cirurgia de transplante renal.
