Objectives: Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown, this study aimed to identify the main interventions – ‘facilitators’ – employed by clinical psychologists during the lockdown (4 months). Materials and methods: This is a qualitative study in which a sample of 30 psychotherapists from the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) was selected, comprising both genders, with 10 to 30 years of clinical experience and from different therapeutic traditions, using non-probabilistic, purposive sampling based on the researcher’s knowledge of the population of professionals under study. Clinical experience was prioritised over age, gender and therapeutic model. They were asked a specific question regarding the main interventions they carried out with their patients at the four-month mark of the lockdown (20 to 30 July 2020), listing and explaining a minimum of five. Results: the facilitators were grouped into categories based on similarities in intervention and explanatory content. Of the 150 obtained, by combining the different ones and discarding the repetitions, 15 were selected. Conclusions: the interventions combine a reflective philosophy of life with concrete actions for change, drawing on common themes such as the perspective of attributing positive meaning to things, people or situations; empowerment and security; avoiding hostile environments; creating and undertaking future projects; improving relationships with one’s social environment; and reducing uncertainty, aggression, distress and anxiety.
