Abordaje de infección por covid - 19 en ancianos muy viejos: reporte de caso

Passado pouco mais de um ano desde as primeiras descrições da nova doença causada pelo coronavírus 2019 (COVID-19) e até à data (30-01-2021), após 102 403 247 casos notificados e mais de dois milhões de mortes a nível mundial, continua a ser um desafio a abordagem e o tratamento dos casos graves, especialmente na população mais vulnerável: os idosos. Apresenta-se o caso de um homem de 83 anos, anteriormente funcional e com comorbidades não tratadas, cujo quadro clínico evoluiu rapidamente para insuficiência respiratória, tendo sido identificada uma infeção por SARS-CoV-2. Aborda-se a infeção por COVID-19 em idosos, com base nos algoritmos utilizados na Colômbia para o diagnóstico e tratamento, apresentando-se, por fim, as complicações e sequelas mais frequentemente referidas nesta população, bem como estratégias para a sua prevenção e tratamento precoce.
