Background: The growth and development check-up is offered to control healthy children looking to remain healthy, thanks to proper supervision. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was made; the population consisted of 640 children in the growth and development program of the clinic ASSBASALUD ESE.
Results: The averages found in the anthropometric variables (weight, height and head circumference) in the study where compared with the results given by Corre a, Gomez and Posada in Medellin in 2006, it was found that the average weight at
birth was 3,500 grams and in this study was of 3,300 grams. In the variable head circumference at birth was found that there was no registration in the records reviewed. Average head circumference at 24 months was 47.0 cm and the other
study was 48.5 cm. Conclusions: It was be found in this sample of children in Manizales, that a poor degree of nutrition as well as phenotypical aspects affect in a negative way the rates of height, weight and head circumference, which found below the average standard population. A high rate of clinical histories was excluded due to a lack of completeness in information
and missing records in almost all variables. There are flaws in the processing of medical records in the program of growth and development of ASSBASALUD ESE which deserves to be solved.
