The present study aims to explore the perception of caregivers of children and adolescents aged between 8 and 18 years diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) who receive treatment with methylphenidate, in the department of Caldas, Colombia. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological design was conducted, using in-depth interviews with eight caregivers. The results show a generally positive perception of methylphenidate, highlighting improvements in concentration and behavior, but also concerns related to side effects and the duration of treatment. In addition, the importance of combining pharmacological treatment with non-pharmacological therapies for a comprehensive approach to ADHD was observed. The conclusions emphasize the need to improve accessibility, provide more information about the treatment, and strengthen support for the caregiver.
