Necrotizing pancreatitis post-CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting) is a complication arising from splanchnic hypoperfusion secondary to hemodynamic stress due
to the lack of autoregulation in response to decreased blood pressure and persistent
vasoconstriction during the procedure. Its incidence is approximately 0.2 % to 3 %,
with an estimated mortality rate of about 39 %. The diagnosis is primarily based on
clinical presentation and imaging findings. Treatment after diagnosis focuses on
minimally invasive techniques. We describe a case of necrotizing pancreatitis in a
postoperative CABG patient who develops abdominal pain followed by multisystem
involvement.
