The term “preembryo” was introduced into scientific discourse in 1979 by biologist Clifford Grobstein in his work *Human Fertilization* [1,2]. From this point on, the Warnock Committee, in its report on Research into Human Fertilization and Embryology in the United Kingdom, defined it as the period of time spanning from the zygotic union of the parents’ sex gametes until 14 days after fertilization [3]. It is evident that from that time until the present, a debate has arisen regarding the sustainability and scientific validity of this new definition, particularly because it encompasses not only biological aspects of the beginning of human life, which has been exploited in arguments to manipulate human embryos during this period of their existence.
