The femoral vein access is a valuable tool that every emergency physician must dominate. This is the most quick and easy access, with the lowest rate of vascular complications, however, it is an alternative option to central venous routinely accesses. The venous catheter approach must be chosen based in characteristics of each patient, risk of complications, and medical skills and preference. Femoral vein catheter insertion is used instead to other approaches to reserve other venous access, as jugular and subclavius, for permanent catheters or when those accesses are not ideals for some patients.
