The infant morbidity and mortality index, in children under 5 years of age, at the Latin American and Colombian levels, is increasing gradually. The main cause of the previous is
prevalent diseases, such are diarrhea, pneumonia, deficient nutrition, etc., or a combination of all. This morbidity is directly determined by several factors related to the administration of
health services; they lead principally towards an inefficient training in the professional personnel offering health services.
According to the need of solving this situation, the OMS and UNICEF developed a strategy known as AEIPI. Its main goal is to integrate to the administration of health services prevention
and promotion programs at a community level. The idea of this is to decrease the infant morbidity and mortality caused by prevalent diseases. It is imperative to train professional
health personnel, especially at the universities, with the mentioned strategy in all the health programs in universities around the country
