This is a Retrospective and Correlacional study where the main causes of Craneoencefalic Trauma (CET) are analyzed in a group of 159 patients. They all went to the «Hospital Infantil Universitario de la Cruz Roja de Caldas Rafael Henao Toro» in a time frame from January 1 to July 31 of 2002. Some of the Variables found in all patients are: age, sex, companion
Ship at the time of the accident, type of trauma, Cause of accident. According to the diagnostic all patients were classified in 3 categories: minor CET (68.6%) moderate CET (25.8%) and
severe CET (5.7%). The average age for most incident is from 2 to 3 year (10.1 y 9.4%). Where most of the children were without an adult’s company (66.7%); and most of the CET accidents were in may (23.9%). They are common on streets (49.9%). The main cause for CET is the drop from a High (36.5%) for the minor CET and traffic accidents (29.6%) for the severe CET. All causes were more common in Male (70.4%). According to all the facts presented here and the identified main causes for CET, It’s possible to avoid psychological damage in Parents and lower hospital expenses.
