Objective. Evaluate the effectiveness of an educational process in risk factors for arterial hypertension. Materials and methods. The educational process factors in alcoholism, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, stress, obesity, smoking, diet and physical inactivity, are He conducted on 190 students aged 18-25, who were studying the first semesters of the faculties of Education, Systems Engineering and Telecommunications, Psychology and Medicine at the University of Manizales. The selection of
sample was intentional. The methodology was performing a pretest and a subsequent test, a talk-conversatorio offered by members of the Investigation Group. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests for all risk factors except for general knowledge in Hypertension blood which t test for independent groups was applied. Results. a significant level of learning was found after the process education for the entire study group, in all risk factors, especially for the powers of Systems Engineering and Education. Conclusions. The educational intervention is effective in improving the level of knowledge about risk factors for hypertension.
