clearly connected as factor for the development of diseases in the circulatory system;
when adverse effects where found, were these related to older age, cardiovascular
history, Diabetes Mellitus and smoking.
Objective: To identify the relation between the continual use of oral contraceptives
and coronary illnesses, in the intermediate unit of La Enea and Asunción, between
the years 2002 and 2006.
Materials and methods: The present study is of descriptive co-relational type. To
select the target population, it was kept in mind as an inclusion judgment: Women
between 15 and 45 years old who consume ACO and consult in the Intermediate Unit
of La Enea and Asunción, between the years 2002 and 2005.
Results: An statistically significant result was found in the relation between the dyspnea
grade of the patients with arterial tension(p=0.007). By means of a variant analysis it
was observed that the systolic arterial blood pressure is less in people who consume
third generation contraceptives (p=0.036), something similar happens with the diastolic
blood pressure but the difference here is not significant.
Conclusion: At the end of the research, it was not found any relation with the continual use
of oral contraceptives and the coronary disease, although further study is necessary.
