Materials and methods: a sample of 302 randomly selected health students were administered the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire. The variables of interest were analyzed through statistical association X2. Results: in this work it was observed
a statistically significant association between travel mode and gender (X2 = 7,2; p = 0,027), of all students 193 (63,9 %) who walk or ride bicycles, the 52,3 % are female and 47,6 % are men. Association between travel mode and the program of studies (X2 = 14,4; p = 0,024), of all students who walk or ride bicycles the 34,7 % are medical students and 30 % are students of dentistry. Also if was found association between gender and physical inactivity (X2 = 8,9; p = 0,002), 247 (82 %) students perform less than 150 minutes of physical activity per week. Conclusions: regarding travel mode, both men and women mostly walk or ride bicycles, being students of medicine and
dentistry the most likely to be transported in this way. In relation to physical activity, about 82 % performed less than 150 minutes of physical activity per week.
