Jaundice is a common query emergency services and outpatient. The general practitioner should be trained for the proper diagnosis of these patients. With this article, it is intended to give an illustration and a guide to general practitioner to properly focus the jaundiced patient so quickly know what laboratory tests and imaging are required. For proper diagnosis, it requires a knowledge of the physiology of bilirubin, a complete and adequate medical history and finally a paraclinical support varies with the type of patient. Jaundice is a yellowing of the skin, sclera and mucous membranes due to increased serum bilirubin
