Sputum induction via hypertonic saline nebulization has been studied for over 50 years as a useful and safe tool in the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis [1]. However, despite its benefits, this technique has not been widely and systematically used in our country. In the current context, where tuberculosis remains a major public health problem with significant challenges in surveillance and control, it is necessary to consider cost-effective tools to optimize the use of available diagnostic tests.
