Objective: to describe the impact of different diseases on the Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) of teenagers from research published between 1970 and 2013. Methods: systematic review with meta-analysis on six multidisciplinary databases, applying a protocol with the stages of identification, screening, eligibility and inclusion. The averages of the scores for each domain of instrument Pediatric quality of life inventory
TM were extracted. The diseases were classified according to ICD -10. The analysis was based on Kappa indices, absolute and relative frequencies, confidence intervals and summary measures. Results: the study included 71 research in 22425
adolescents with diseases endocrines, digestives, blood, chronic renal disease, mental, arthritis, cancer, heart diseases, HIV and healthy adolescents. In the physical domain most affected patients were osteosarcoma (43.5±30.3) and HIV the least affected (92.1±7.4); in the psychosocial domain had lower scores who were the hypermobility syndrome (51.9±13.1) and thalassemias had higher scores (77.4±17.2), in the domain
of function school the highest score was obtained of patients with congenital disease (78.2±15.2). Conclusion: the study of HRQOL on adolescent allow view the impact of diseases on physical, psychosocial, emotional, social and school domains; and advises
clinicians and others who are responsible for this population, for a holistic treatment of the disease that transcends the traditional biological approach.
