Objective: To identify social inequalities in the distribution of obesity in the Colombian adult population. Materials and methods: The secondary analysis of the 2010 National Nutrition Situation Survey is performed in adults of both sexes between 18 and 64 years of age, with a total of 11,621 analyzed records. To measure inequalities, we used absolute differences, Lorenz curve and Gini coefficient. Results: Patients between 40 and 64 years of age (OR1, 807, CI 1.637 - 1.998) were more likely to be obese and without higher education (OR 1,196, CI 1,036-1,382). Women were more likely to be obese than men (OR 1.24, CI 1.122-1.37). The analysis of the prevalence of obesity by Colombian departments according to the proportion of inhabitants with Unsatisfied Basic Needs (NBI) reported variations from 11.7% in Vaupés to 26.6% in San Andrés. Conclusions:  Socioeconomic status affects the  distribution of obesity; Women are women in greater proportion due to obesity, with an excess risk of 1.8%, there is a minimal inequality in the distribution of prevalence of obesity in Colombia (CG: 0.0004).
