Objectives: the objective of the investigation was to understand the factors that mobilize the change during the therapeutic encounter. The artistic expressions used by the therapist serve as a vehicle that articulates the resilient narratives exposed during a reflexive process with the dilemma of the patient. Materials and methods: during the first therapeutic encounter the existential dilemma of the patient is identified. After this first encounter the therapist/investigator uses various artistic expressions to express him/herself. The therapist can use methods such as sculpture, poems, paintings or photography, amongst various options. During the next encounter the therapist exposes the art to the patient trying to evaluate if there is an innovation or appreciative change. The art transcends the esthetic to generate change. Results: it was found that the artistic images allow a renovated therapeutic encounter, based on the perspective of generative dialogs, mobilizing various levels of observation and encouraging the reflections and learning process in a co-constructive manner. Conclusions: new propositional and innovative alternatives are found, by narrating in different ways the dominant stories that a person brings to the therapeutic encounter.
