The goal of this one is to provide enough theoretical elements concerning the social impact that the General Social Security Law has had. The law went in effect 7 years ago, and the
elements to be presented expect to establish within the same law the concepts of efficiency, universality, solidarity, integrality, unity and participation. The information about this law is from
the years 2000 and 2001, and it was provided by several institutions like: the National Planning Department, several ONG, Fedesarrollo, etc. The information illustrates different aspects related to the law and the impact it has had on many institutions dealing directly with the system’s operative structure. One way or the other, the 1993 Law was conceived for a country at a specific moment. And at this point and time it appears to be out of context; it is very important to take a critic and reflexive attitude towards the effect of the Law. This speech invites to the previous.
