Luz Marina Flórez

Focusing on biomolecular studies done last decade, today’s medical doctors have a
broader knowledge concerning urinary infections: etiology, virulent factors caused by
microorganisms, clinical manifestations, epidemiology and frequency, pathogeny, initial
diagnosis, imagenology, treatment, control and prevention. Recent advances in lab
techniques have made it possible to achieve a higher diagnostic precision; which helped
decreasing its failures. Treatment is centered in a general initial treatment, antimicrobian
drugs such Trimetoprin-Sulfa 40, Nitrofurantoina, Cefalosporinas 2nd and 3rd generations
and a follow-up control.
