Zoonosis are diseases shared between men and animals; there are more than 200 different kinds known in the different geographic regions. Some of the zoonotic microorganisms in the Colombian area are bacteria like leptospiras, parasites like tenia, virus like rabies and fungus that produce skin diseases. The transmission from the animal that includes domestic and wild animals, to the human can be through the ingestion of fecal
waste, meat, milk and its derivatives, among others. The diseases go from those which have quiet symptoms up to those that cause a certain death once the microorganism has established itself within the human structure, for example rabies. The preventing procedures are based on the blockage of the transmission of the pathogenic agent between the animal and men.
