Trauma is the leading cause of death in the first 3 decades of life and the third for any age after illness cardiovascular and cancer. In Colombia the trauma is a problem public health. Since the early 70s of the twentieth century, both violent injuries intentional and unintentional have occupied the first places among the causes mortality in this country. The trauma has serious repercussions on the economic stability of a country, expressed in the loss of human capital and transitions in the population pyramid, also the high costs of sectors such as justice, security and health. Years of potential life lost, marker of the great social costs violence, they were 1,398,985 for all age groups in Colombia during the year 2000.
