Nutritional support in critically ill patients is of vital importance for its impact on morbidity, hospital stay and preservation of tissue mass among others. It must ensure nutritional support to all critically ill patients enterally ideally by reduced bacterial translocation
and stimulation of the function of the intestinal villi. In recent years we have studied immunonutrients as glutamine, arginine, fatty acids and nucleotides with promising effects (Immune response, Intestinal barrier or scar tissue).
