High blood pressure is defined as a chronic elevation in systolic pressure and diastolic and represents a common disease in humanity.
Some of the factors that can cause high blood pressure in people between 18 and 65 are: age, race, sex, smoking, alcohol consumption, and obesity.
OBJECTIVES
The aim of this study was to determine the high levels of blood pressure and risk factors associated with the administrative staff of the University of Manizales.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Of the 151 people who at that time were working as administrative staff University of Manizales participated in the study reprentando 143 94.7% of the total population, with an age range between 18 and 62 years, an average of 37.9 years.

personal, physical activity, knowledge about your own blood pressure, weight. guides WHO (World Health Organization) were used to make the measurement blood pressure.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
The work was carried out in three months. The results were statistically signifi cant. Confi rmed dependence some risk factors (sex, alcohol, pathological family history staff, diet, body mass index, age) of blood pressure levels. No relationship between blood pressure levels and consumption found in this population cigarette.
