The surgical management of ischemic cerebrovascular disease (CVD ) is a challenge for the neurosurgeon , this company is the second most common cause of death worldwide preceded only by the different forms of ischemic heart disease. With current preventive measures implemented in developed countries, its frequency and fatal disease it has decreased, so that ranks as the third leading cause of death , being also overtaken by malignancies . A strategy for the management of cerebral ischemic disease is decompressive craniotomy for selected cases . Are some interesting topics from the neurosurgical perspective for the management of stroke.
