Good Editorial Practices

The Psychological Tempus Magazine, in its interest for continuous improvement, is committed to international standards of scientific publication. By virtue of this, it adheres to the guidelines of the Second International Conference on Research Integrity, held in Singapore, from July 22 to 24, 2010.

Some of the guidelines suggested by the Singapore Conference are transcribed below.

Publisher Responsibilities:

  • The editors are responsible for the selection and publication process of the articles.
  • Editors must be impartial in the selection of peer reviewers.
  • Publishers should adopt editorial policies that encourage transparency.
  • The editors undertake to keep the authors informed of the selection process and the results of the evaluations.
  • Editors must protect the integrity of the documents and make any necessary corrections and retractions.
  • The publishers are committed to promoting good editorial practices.
  • Editors must provide all necessary information to reviewers and authors to carry out their work successfully.
  • Publishers must have clear procedures for dealing with conflicts of interest.
  • The editors must verify the authorship of the articles and reject those that are due to plagiarism, citation manipulation, data fabrication or any other bad practice.
  • The publishers undertake to promote the exchange of ideas, respect for opinions and to guarantee freedom of opinion and expression during the processes of calling, selecting, evaluating and publishing their content.
  • Editors must ensure that the writings do not contain false or injurious information against an individual or a group of individuals or organizations. Any declaration in this sense must be brought to the attention of the Legal Office of the University for verification.

 

Author Responsibilities:

  • Research must be carried out in compliance with ethical standards and in accordance with current regulations that regulate the responsible management of copyright.
  • Researchers must present their results clearly, honestly, and without falsification or inappropriate manipulation of data.
  • Researchers must comply with the publication requirements requested by the journal, guaranteeing their originality, non-simultaneous publication in other media and avoiding plagiarism or other bad practices.
  • The authors must assume responsibility for the results presented and published.
  • Authorship must accurately reflect the contributions of the parties involved.
  • Funding sources and relevant conflicts of interest should be noted in the first footnote of the document.

Evaluators Responsibilities:

  • Carry out a rigorous evaluation process, in accordance with the latest advances in the field of the article
  • Use the format and procedure defined by the journal for your task. The procedure includes the possibility of requesting modifications of form and content from the authors at first. Based on the adjustments made by the authors, the evaluator may definitively accept or reject the article, but may not request new adjustments.
