Parameters for the citation

In the articles published in the journal Tempus Psicológico, the citation and referencing will be carried out according to the standards established by the American Psychological Association (APA) in its latest edition.

When it comes to textual or direct quotations, that is to say that the exact words of another publication were transcribed, it is essential to put in quotation marks the content taken literally when the quotation has less than 40 words; if it exceeds 40 words, it must have a special indentation that allows the reader to clearly establish that it is a direct quote. At the end of the citation, the author's last name, the year of publication and the page from which the citation was obtained must be indicated. Here is an example:

"logistic regression analyzes showed that there was a higher likelihood of all suicidal and self-harm behaviors consulted in those who were not heterosexually oriented" (O'Neill, 2018: 60).

When making an indirect quote, also known as paraphrasing or paraphrasing, meaning that the author's ideas are used, but not in the author's own words, only the author's name and year should be included. Let's look at an example:

It is a fact that the Social Sciences today are more inclined to listen to the voice and testimony of the subjects, recognizing them as authentic protagonists or social actors (Arfuch, 2010).

At the end of each article, a list must be included with the bibliographical references that were used in the research and that appear in the text. This list must be ordered alphabetically according to the author's last name, following the standards established by the American Psychological Association (APA) in its latest edition. The title of this list should be References and each citation should be double spaced one from the other. The bibliographical reference must include the surnames and initials of the authors, the title of the article, the volume and the page numbers.
