Guide for external evaluators

The journal Tempus Psicológico, as a peer-reviewed scientific journal, submits all of its articles to an external evaluation process, which seeks to guarantee the originality, writing quality and academic rigor of the original texts that are sent to the journal. The journal applies the double-blind methodology, as a strategy to guarantee due transparency in the article evaluation process.

The Editorial Board of the Tempus Psicológico Magazine will reject those articles that fail to comply with its editorial policy or with its publication regulations, which will be informed to the authors so that they can make their content available for other publications or other purposes. Together with the Editorial Board team, the Journal Editor will select and classify the articles that meet the quality criteria established by the Publication. It will assign external evaluators according to their expertise and research topics. All articles will be reviewed anonymously following a double-blind methodology, that is, the author will not know who their evaluators are, nor will they know the authorship of the text sent to them for evaluation.

About external evaluators

The external evaluators will be academic experts in the subject area of ​​the article who have published scientific articles in that area in the course of the last three years.

The evaluators are in charge of determining the originality, quality and pertinence of the data associated with an investigation, verifying the relevance, pertinence and originality of the texts submitted to the Revista Tempus Psicológico. Their evaluation will be the fundamental criterion for the acceptance or rejection of the articles.

Evaluation process

The editorial management process begins with the receipt of the article and automatic acknowledgment of receipt by the OJS platform of the journal Tempus Psicológico. Each article is subjected to a preliminary review process developed by the editors in the following five (5) business days, who verify compliance with the editorial criteria contemplated in the author guide and review the article with the available plagiarism detection tool. at the University of Manizales. This process may result in rejection, approval or approval with corrections to continue the editorial process, this does not mean that the article is definitively accepted for publication. Upon passing this procedure, the evaluation process continues.

The manuscript is initially assigned to two external evaluators, so that they review, based on a format provided by the journal, each of the components of the article (see formats at the end), under the double-blind modality, that is, without the evaluators knowing who is the author of the text, nor does the author of the text know who its evaluators are. They have (15) business days to review

The opinions issued by the referees against the publication can be:

  • Approve the article without modifications
  • Approve the article with minor modifications.
  • Condition the approval of the article to major modifications that will be reviewed (and approved or not) by the evaluators in a second submission by the author(s).
  • Reject the article

In all cases, the author(s) will be notified of the referees' decision. The acceptance of the article will depend on the satisfactory compliance by the author(s) with the suggestions or modifications that the evaluators propose to the article within a period not exceeding 15 days after their notification. In turn, the Editorial Board will reserve the right to introduce the necessary style corrections to adapt the text to the publication standards, without this implying any alteration to the content of the articles, which are the sole responsibility of the authors. . The Editorial Board will be the body that decides the acceptance and subsequent publication of the articles received. In all cases, the final version of the article will be sent to the author(s), as it will be published, after the style correction process, for final approval.

The Editorial Board of the Revista Tempus Psicológico encourages evaluators to take into account the following guidelines:

  • You must objectively review the quality of the manuscript in relation to the objectives, methodology, data and their interpretation, conclusions, bibliography section, as well as formal aspects of the text.
  • Be impartial in criticism and comments, evidencing their statements, showing neutrality and respect for the manuscript and its author.
  • Inform the editors in case of detecting plagiarism or self-plagiarism between the article you are reviewing and any published work, or if you are aware of a similar work in the process of being reviewed.
  • Send the evaluation of the manuscript to the Revista Tempus Psicológico on time or communicate with the editor in case of delays.
  • Check that the sources of information referenced and those cited in the work are the same.

Note: After completing the evaluation process, the Tempus Psicológico Journal will send you an arbitration certificate by return mail in gratitude for your work. To send it, the reviewer must be registered in the OJS platform of the journal.
