Andrés Eduardo Jiménez Figueroa is an Organizational Psychologist graduated from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile, Master in Administration and Human Resources Management also from the Universidad de Santiago, and Doctor in Business Administration from the Universidad Central de Nicaragua. Since 2006 he has been a full-time Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Talca in Chile. 


Work-family reconciliation is a strategic challenge in high-demand sectors such as retail. This study examined how organizational culture oriented to work-family support influences work-family balance, subjective well-being and perceived performance. A total of 618 retail workers in Chile participated and answered validated scales. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional design was used, with descriptive, correlational and multiple regression analyses. The results indicate that a favorable culture positively predicts balance and well-being, although its link with performance is weaker. In addition, balance partially mediated the relationship between culture and well-being. These findings, unpublished in Latin America, suggest that promoting a culture that supports work-life balance improves the quality of work life and favors organizational sustainability.
