Pediatric mental health, parenting experience and unemployment in a Latin American context

Mental health has been understood from a biomedical model. The social determinants and the intersection between them are unclear. Especially in childhood and youth, it is necessary to understand the association between affective and behavioral symptoms and the parenting experience, with family unemployment, in addition to knowing the capacities of the main caregivers and the difficulty in converting these into functions. Descriptive cross-sectional, correlational study with population of stratum one and two of Manizales. A mean age of 9.28 years was found, a statistically significant association between depression in caregivers, difficulties in the experience of parenting and unemployment, with psychiatric symptoms in childhood and youth, in addition to a significant number of capacities in caregivers, with 55% unemployment.
