Policy on the Use of AI

Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The journal Tempus Psicológico recognizes that artificial intelligence tools are part of the contemporary transformations shaping the production and global circulation of knowledge. Their emergence opens new opportunities for academic work while raising ethical, epistemological, and human queries that require rigorous reflection, particularly within the fields of psychology and the human sciences.

In alignment with the journal’s critical, ethical, and humanistic orientation, no technological tool can replace the intellectual responsibility, clinical sensitivity, contextual interpretation, or ethical commitment involved in researching and writing about the human experience. Consequently, the journal permits the responsible and transparent use of artificial intelligence tools exclusively as partial support for specific tasks related to academic writing, proofreading, or language editing.

  1. Permitted Uses and Author Responsibility=

AI tools may be appropriately utilized to support editorial and drafting processes, including:

  • Grammar and spelling correction.
  • Academic language translation and stylistic refinement.
  • Preliminary material organization and technical assistance in data analysis.

The final content must always be critically reviewed and validated by the authors, who retain full intellectual and legal accountability for all ideas, interpretations, arguments, and conclusions presented in the manuscript.

  1. Strict Restrictions and Authorship Criteria
  • Prohibition of AI-Generated Text: The journal does not accept manuscripts generated entirely or substantially through artificial intelligence presented as original intellectual production.
  • Research Misconduct: Submissions involving AI-fabricated or AI-manipulated data, altered research outcomes, or fabricated bibliographic references shall be rejected immediately under codes of severe research misconduct.
  • Authorship Exclusion: Artificial intelligence tools do not meet the criteria for authorship. Authorship implies ethical responsibility, critical judgment, intellectual positioning, and legal accountability for the knowledge produced—dimensions that belong exclusively to human experience. Therefore, AI systems shall not be listed as authors or co-authors of any manuscript.
  1. Disclosure Mandate

Authors shall explicitly declare the use of AI tools in the preparation of their manuscript. This disclosure must be presented through a formal statement appended immediately before the References section, detailing the specific tool used and the nature of the assistance received.

  1. Confidentiality in Peer Review

Regarding editorial and peer-review workflows, reviewers shall strictly preserve manuscript confidentiality. Reviewers are strictly prohibited from uploading complete manuscripts or substantial excerpts into generative AI platforms or public LLMs without explicit, prior authorization from the Editor-in-Chief. Any implementation of technological tools within the editorial workflow must fully respect the core principles of data confidentiality, academic integrity, and the ethical care of scientific information.

The journal Tempus Psicológico maintains an open, critical, and reflective stance toward artificial intelligence. We acknowledge the value of these technologies as auxiliary support mechanisms, while firmly reaffirming that scholarly thought, the understanding of human suffering, the construction of meaning, and ethical responsibility cannot be reduced to automated processes. Research in psychology and the human sciences remains, above all, a profound human encounter with the complexity of life.
