Relação entre comportamento suicida e ansiedade em universitários

O suicídio e a ansiedade são problemas prevalentes que afetam a saúde mental de estudantes universitários. Os objetivos desta pesquisa foram determinar a prevalência de comportamento suicida e ansiedade generalizada por gênero, idade e programa acadêmico e analisar a relação entre essas variáveis em estudantes universitários de uma cidade colombiana. Método: Pesquisa quantitativa, não experimental, correlacional, aplicada a uma amostra de 2.436 estudantes (59,2% mulheres, 40,4% homens) entre 16 e 51 anos. Os instrumentos utilizados foram a Entrevista de Pensamentos e Comportamentos Autoprejudiciais; Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale e a seção de transtornos de ansiedade da Composite International Diagnostic Interview. A análise dos dados foi realizada por meio do software SPSS. Resultados: Verificou-se que 21,9% dos alunos relataram ideação suicida, 13,3% plano suicida, 2% tentativa de suicídio, 11,7% automutilação não suicida e 17% transtorno de ansiedade generalizada no último ano. Maior prevalência de comportamentos suicidas e ansiedade é observada em participantes do sexo feminino, na faixa etária de 16 a 24 anos, em cursos de psicologia, medicina e direito. Observou-se também associação entre as variáveis do estudo e do grupo, verificando-se que entre todas houve dependência, exceto faixa etária e tentativa de suicídio. Conclusões: Os resultados confirmam uma associação estatisticamente significativa entre comportamento suicida e ansiedade generalizada, que fornecem subsídios para o desenho e implementação de programas de prevenção e intervenção em grupos de maior risco em instituições de ensino superior.
