All manuscripts submitted for potential publication will be screened for plagiarism using Turnitin software. The editor is responsible for this process and will manually review the findings generated by the program. For an article to be accepted, its similarity score must be less than 20% following this process. Citations and verbatim passages will then be reviewed to ensure they comply with the Vancouver style guidelines.
If the editor identifies any issues in articles with a plagiarism percentage below 20%, these articles will be returned to the authors for the necessary corrections.
Once this process is complete, the article will be assigned to peer review via a double-blind process.
The journal Archivos de Medicina (Manizales) adheres to the guidelines on plagiarism published by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).
Regarding the use of artificial intelligence as a new form of academic plagiarism, the journal follows the recommendations of the WAME (World Association of Medical Editors):
“WAME Recommendations on Chatbots and Generative Artificial Intelligence in Relation to Academic Publications” (Zielinski et al., 2023)
