This article of theoretical reflection, relates the role of the educational manager in rural sectors, with the development of the communities from the postulates of the endogenous development. The document makes theoretical approaches in the subject, within the framework of the Specialization in Educational Management of the Catholic University of Manizales. Therefore, the document aims, in the first instance, to reflect on endogenous development in rural contexts and how this type of development can promote sustainable innovation in education. There are several criteria and factors that strengthen educational innovation; this document describes the endogenous development as a proposal for educational managers, seeking to generate innovative processes that are sustainable and that lead to the development of the community.
