Esta investigación estudia el efecto que tiene el empleo prácticas “verdes” en la gestión de los recursos humanos sobre la percepción del desempeño ambiental en actividades de distribución y venta en la Ciudad de México.

El estudio se realizó con una muestra de 273 vendedores-repartidores de cuatro centros de distribución y venta de una empresa que comercializa productos de consumo en el canal tradicional -tiendas de la esquina- en la Ciudad de México. El tipo de estudio es transeccional, ex post facto, explicativo, en el que para su análisis se empleó un modelo de mínimos cuadrados parciales -PLS-.

Los hallazgos de la investigación fueron que las prácticas “verdes” de recursos humanos que involucran la descripción de puestos, reclutamiento y selección, capacitación-desarrollo, evaluación de desempeño, reconocimiento-compensación y empoderamiento, influyen de forma positiva y significativamente en la percepción del desempeño ambiental en los colaboradores de la empresa estudiada en la Ciudad de México.

Este estudio aporta información relevante para las organizaciones sobre la relación que existe entre la gestión “verde” de los recursos humanos y el desempeño ambiental, en el contexto de una entidad con problemas ambientales serios como ocurre en la Ciudad de México. Los resultados de esta investigación contribuyen con la aportación de información sobre un tema poco investigado en México y Latinoamérica, que puede ser utilizada por tomadores de decisiones en las organizaciones, y a su vez por académicos que están interesados en este tema y con ello profundizar en su entendimiento.
