This article was established from a reflection on the importance of reading in childhood. In this sense, an approach to children's literature was established as an instrument that allows children to create, and enter, possible worlds. Characterized by the use of instruments such as the story, the fable, and the poem, which allow us to contemplate sociocultural events. These events must be mediated by the school, a vehicle that will help them to have critical, proactive positions, as opposed to teaching-learning processes. It is through it, that childhood strengthens its knowledge in social fields. That is to say, that this institution is essential so that the reading processes in childhood are pleasant.
