Scientific work has been debated throughout its history. Theories and paradigms have been rejected when revolutions of new ideas emerge, establishing a new point of departure for scientific thought. Today’s challenges, which are now more technological than scientific, affect global biophysical and social realities. Behind this conglomerate are individuals working tirelessly, attempting to take a step forward, immersed in labyrinths of ideas and in dreams they hope will prove revealing. It is in this intimate field of conversation and internal discussion that individual refinement takes place. There, the possibilities of what may become a new creation are debated, along with how it may be carried out and which options or paths may offer a solution to a given question. In other words, the researcher gives place and form to science and technology within a space that can serve society, understanding knowledge as a common good. Here, the values that support the researcher become the subtle thread that weaves the foundations of a question. They are part of the reasons for choosing particular theoretical and methodological foundations, which are viewed prospectively in terms of their usefulness or meaning within a specific context.
