The analysis of organizational decision making has been dominated by principles of economics, mathematics, statistics, and operations research. In this framework, the objective of the work is to develop a theoretical reflection on the research and approaches of a little analyzed variable on decisions and organizational behavior, such as organizational identity. To meet the objective, a bibliographic search was carried out, identifying published works that allow obtaining an understanding of the variables of interest. The number of works analyzed, both theoretical and empirical, were 35. The type of analysis was descriptive and interpretive, where the main results show the importance of managing identity in organizations. This element is considered fundamental for sustainability and its competitiveness in today's world, improving decision-making and intrinsic knowledge of organizations. Studies can be divided into two currents, those that propose the analysis of organizational identity independently and those that analyze it together with organizational culture and image. It is proposed to define under what specific factors of organizational identity organizations make their decisions and the analysis of empirical cases on the multidimensional concept as future lines of research and perspectives that enrich future explorations of organizational decision and identity, and their mutual interrelationships.
