Foreign Language as a Device in Research Formation and Practice in Colombia -challenges and perspectives for young researchers

This article presents the results of an investigation whose purpose was to base the Language as an alternative that -according to the Pedagogical Anthropology- contributed to face the phenomenon of dehumanization before the Capitalist advance. The guiding question was: In what sense is the Foreign Language a device that cultivates the Capacity for Cosmopolitan Citizenship to strengthen the quality of higher education in Colombia? The question was developed by means of the Phenomenological-Hermeneutic method according to the approaches of Max Van Manen. First, the results show that the development of the Foreign Language as a device that cultivates the Capacity to be a World Citizen leads to decentralizing the person and promoting generality. In This favors coexistence and the creation of new horizons with others. The results indicate that the Foreign Language is a cosmopolitan device and allows people to become empathetic and critical interpreters of themselves and of others.
