This article reflects on how the increasing presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated content in digital spaces is transforming communication and the formation of social imaginaries. It explores current concerns, such as the “Dead Internet Theory”, which suggests that much online content is generated by bots and algorithms, and how this influences the perception of authenticity and the “social” nature of social networks. Through a review of key concepts and a critical analysis, we seek to understand the implications of this trend in the construction of social reality and the future of digital communication.
