This reflection is aimed at analzing how the newspaper La Patria, at the time, as the main means of communication in the Eje Cafetero region, played a fundamental role in the creation of the Department of Risaralda. With his opinions, beyond the anecdotal, he is present in the two moments of the crisis, as a historical event: a communicative one open to public opinion, and a political one as a context of the conflict negotiations. It is intended to re-signify the management of power of the elites of the two capitals: Manizales and Pereira in the framework of the dispute that led to the territorial split.
