This article reflects on the negative impact of contracting official advertising with media and journalists, in addition to the effects that may arise from that relationship in terms of self-censorship and freedom of expression. In Colombia, it is common for state entities to contract directly with journalists the issuance of institutional messages and content on the management of public officials, the problem is that there are no objective parameters for the allocation of that hiring and ends up being a fair of rewards and punishments.
