Gabriel García Márquez published his first 10 journalistic columns in El Universal de Cartagena,
between May 21 and June 2, 1948. Next, a textual analysis of these short pieces is presented,
to identify in them microelements allusive to the animal and the feminine. In the frequency with
which García Márquez alludes to the female and animal universe, and in the narrative resources he
uses to do so, the reader finds the first vestiges of the development of the later work of the Nobel
Prize.
