This article describes two civil initiatives in the municipalities of Planadas and Chaparral, which
were developed to counteract the difficulties caused by the armed conflict. and they were necessary for the generation of a culture of peace in the south of Tolima (Colombia). Through a qualitative methodology, different approaches were made to groups and social organizations, developing case studies with interviews, participant observation and
participatory communication diagnoses. It was concluded that the neglect of the State and The pressure of the armed conflict were decisive for the civil mobilization of the communities
affected by the war, establishing a position of resistance that generated ties of union and social fabric.
