Driving under the influence of alcohol has a direct impact
on the risk of suffering traffic accidents and is a growing problem
seriously affecting society. This project seeks to implement a blood
alcohol detection system in drivers, which will allow deciding and
acting over the vehicle’s operation. The device has a platform
that collects data from the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) port,
processes it with a smartphone application, that expects it to
fulfill certain requirements in order to ask the driver to start with
the blood alcohol analysis. The results will be displayed in real
time through the mobile device connected to the Internet. The
overall appearance of the system is given by the platform which,
in the cloud, allows virtual access from any device connected to
the Internet to visualize, manage and control the vehicle from
anywhere in the world. SMA proposes a global and fully scalable
architecture to acquire data from any vehicle that has an OBD
port and a Smartphone with an Internet connection and Bluetooth.
It can be said that the results obtained were satisfactory and its
operation was as expected.
