This article refers to a doctoral research of a qualitative nature, developed in the period 2015-2017, where aesthetic-environmental sensitization (AES) is addressed as a theoretical-methodological tool of the Aesthetic-Environmental Education (AEE) and its practical application through workshops, carried out with 18 students of the Visual Arts Degree from the FURG. The theoretical methodological approach was based on the materialistic dialectical conception of the world of referents such as Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir I. Lenin, Paulo Freire and Pablo René Estévez. For the interpretation of the information, the hermeneutic-dialectical approach and the Method of Interpretation of Senses of Maria Cecilia de Souza Minayo were assumed. The experiences of AES were based on the Leninist theory of reflection and its procedures were supported by aesthetically significant stimuli. The AES proved to be an effective tool in the teaching-educational process to promote in the students the capacity of artistic-aesthetic perception (and creation), the care of the non-human nature and the development of interpersonal and social relationships from an aesthetic-environmental perspective.
